Zeynep Mercangöz graduated from the Department of Art History at Hacettepe University in 1975. She completed her master's degree in the same department at Hacettepe University in 1979. In 1985, she obtained her doctoral degree from the Department of Art History at Hacettepe University. During her doctoral program, she started working as a research assistant at the Department of Art History at Ege University, where she served as a faculty member from 1992 onwards. She retired in 2021 after a long and successful career in academia.
