Gülgün Köroğlu graduated from the Department of Archaeology and Art History at Istanbul University in 1986. She obtained her master's degree in Western Art and Contemporary Arts program at Mimar Sinan University Institute of Social Sciences in 1989, and her doctoral degree in 1995. After completing her doctoral program, she continued her academic career as a faculty member in the Department of Art History at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, where she initially started as a research assistant. She has been serving as a faculty member since 1996.
